Hi friends!

I have recently decided to go on a mission trip through the World Race! I wanted to share more about what this is and why I am going!

In high school, I read a book called “Kisses from Katie” by Katie Davis. This book was about Katie dropping everything she had to follow the Lord and the plans He had for her. She left and served in Africa. From reading this book, I have felt that the Lord has been calling me to go and serve specifically in Africa. Throughout the past couple of years, I have learned about the World Race. However, there was never the perfect opportunity or window of time for me to go because I did not feel like the Lord was finished using me to serve at Camp Allen just yet. With this upcoming summer (summer of 2022) being completely open before I start student teaching, I realized that this would be the last opportunity to go and serve before real job life starts. This calling that God placed on my heart came back to the front of my mind. At first, I was filled with fear that I was not good enough. Yet, through lots of prayer and from conversations with family and friends, I have realized two huge things. 1. That God calls the unequipped to do His will. 2. There is so much growth that comes when you are not in your comfort zone and you are forced to endure change. I decided to follow where I felt God was calling me and to look into the World Race. As I looked at the different routes, I saw that there was an opportunity to serve in Africa, which has been on my heart to go serve there for years. I took a big leap of faith and applied! Here we are now!! I will be going and serving in Africa for two months! In Africa, we will be doing children’s ministry, leadership discipleship, sports ministry, community outreach, and community development. I love kids and I love seeing the Lord use them for such incredible things!  I feel like all the areas I have been able to serve in throughout my life so far have grown me and prepared me for this trip. I know God has been preparing me for this mission trip and I’m excited to see Him grow and prepare my heart even more between now and the time I leave. There is such beauty to fully surrendering to the Lord and letting Him guide your words and actions. I am longing to be used by the Lord immensely in this way. I am excited to go and serve! I can’t wait to see how the Lord uses me and this team for his will!

I can’t wait to continue this journey with you! Please pray that God would continue to prepare my heart and mind (and my squad’s) for all that He has in store for us on The Race.

  1. I’m so excited for you Sarah! And I’m so glad to know that you are listening to your call from the Lord to serve Him in Africa this summer. I’ll definitely be praying for you and your team and the amazing work that He is going to do through you.
